Roy Lanier

Roy Lanier, Jr., teaches upper school mathematics at the Academy. He grew up in Shuqualak, MS, and Scooba, MS. Mr. Lanier received his B.S.E.E. from Mississippi State and has done post-graduate work at the University of Alabama in Huntsville and Alabama A & M. Prior to joining the faculty at Whitesburg Christian Academy in 2009, Roy taught mathematics at Westminster Christian Academy for 15 years. Before he began teaching, Mr. Lanier spent nearly forty years in the aerospace industry, where he worked as an electrical engineer for Brown Engineering for six years. Afterwards he joined NASA, where he worked for 31 years. At the time of his retirement from NASA, he was the division chief of the Astrionics Laboratory. Roy and his wife, Christine, are the proud parents of four children, who have given them seven grandchildren. The Laniers are active members of Whitesburg Baptist Church, where Roy serves as an adult Life Group teacher, deacon, parking lot greeter, and occasional nursery worker. He is also a trustee for T.I.M.E. and active missionary partner with Whitesburg Baptist Church. In his spare time, Roy likes hiking, riding, and reading. He also enjoys visiting his children and grandchildren. Mr. Lanier says, “I love Jesus and my family, and I have been blessed beyond measure for my entire life. God is good.” His favorite Bible verse is Colossians 3:23.
